The Differences Between Tobacco and E-cigarettes

"To veteran vapers, the New York ruling sounds like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, many people still do not understand how e-cigs differ from traditional cigarettes. The first and most important difference is that e-cigs and e-liquid do not contain tobacco. Most e-liquids contain only nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin and flavoring. Rather than combustion, e-cigs operate by heating e-liquid to produce a vapor that looks like cigarette smoke yet lacks the hundreds of chemicals that make the smoke from a tobacco cigarette so dangerous. Research suggests that vaping is 95 percent less harmful than smoking, and e-cig vapor poses no threat to bystanders. In fact, one study has shown that inhaling e-cig vapor is as safe as breathing air – perhaps even safer than breathing the heavily polluted air found in places like New York City.

E-cig vapor is also odorless, and some devices, such as White Cloud’s Invisivapor line, do not even produce visible emissions. President of the American Vaping Association Gregory Conley has also noted, “If you hold your breath for four or five seconds after you take a puff, no visible vapor is released,” which is a technique many vapers use to avoid drawing attention to themselves."

New York Judge: Vaping Is Not Considered Smoking

“New York City police officials charged Shawn Thomas with violating the state’s public smoking ban when they spotted him vaping while waiting for a subway train. The city’s Smoke Free Air Act explicitly prohibits e-cig use anywhere smoking is banned; however, because the officers charged Thomas under state law, which doesn’t mention e-cigs, Thomas was able to successfully challenge his citation in court.

According to the presiding judge, New York law defines smoking as “the burning of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or any other matter or substance which contains tobacco.” Since e-cigs do not burn and are not tobacco products, the judge ruled that vaping “does not fit within the definition of ‘smoking’ under the law.”

The judge’s decision doesn’t prevent New York legislators from amending the current anti-smoking statute to cover vaping as well; indeed, they have already begun the process. New York City amended its law in 2013 to ban public vaping by just adding a few words. Nonetheless, the legal acknowledgement that vaping is distinct from smoking and should thus be treated differently under the law could have far-reaching consequences.

For now, e-cig users in New York can vape freely without fear of prosecution so long as they’re in a place that hasn’t specifically banned it. Other jurisdictions now have precedent to make separate rules for vaping. Of course, it could also encourage lawmakers to craft even more draconian legislation to ban public vaping.”

Study: E-cigarettes Are 95% Safer Than Tobacco

An independent study finds that e-cigarettes are 95 percent safer than tobacco and could be “game-changer” for getting people to quit smoking.

The study, commissioned by Public Health England, says that while e-cigarettes may not be totally safe, they contain almost none of the chemicals in cigarettes associated with serious diseases like lung cancer and emphysema.

The report adds that there is a substantial body of high-quality evidence that e-cigarettes are an effective tool for getting smokers to kick their habit. The devices, which were only invented in 2007, already have 2.6 million adult users in England alone.

Contrary to a study released on Tuesday by the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, the report found no association between e-cigarette use among young people and a rise in teen smoking.

“Fears that e-cigarettes have made smoking seem normal again, or even led to people taking up tobacco smoking, are not so far being realized based on the evidence assessed by this important independent review,” Professor Linda Bauld, Cancer Research UK’s expert in cancer prevention told the BBC.

The report comes hot on the heels of a study from anti-tobacco campaign group Action on Smoking and Health that found no link between the rise in teens using e-cigarettes and young people transferring to regular cigarettes.

As lawmakers and regulators move to restrict vaping in public spaces, Public Health England rebutted claims that e-cigarette vapor poses a risk to bystanders, saying the vapor contains negligible amounts of nicotine. North Dakota, New Jersey and Utah all have restrictions on e-cigarettes. Florence County in Wisconsin has gone so far as to ban vaping in public places.

“If I was running a stop-smoking service, I would encourage people who are interested in trying e-cigarettes to have a go,” said Professor McNeill, one of the study’s authors. “I would also be recommending all the other evidence-based medications that people can use.”

One of the report’s recommendations was to treat e-cigarettes differently from regular cigarettes and not ban them in public spaces. But one of the key challenges the report identifies are widespread misperceptions about the safety of e-cigarettes. Almost half of British people are unaware that e-cigarettes are far less harmful than tobacco products.

How to use the electronic cigarette mod box?

1、Setting menu: When battery is turned on, quick click button SW1 3 times, entering into the main menu. Press the switch button SW2(+)/SW3(-), then press SW1 for confirmation, and enter into the submenu later. If 8 minutes don’t press button, it will automatically quit the setting menu, and turn into sleep mode.

  

2、Output Mod: Constant wattage and Ni200 constant temperature mod for choice. After entering into the main menu, press SW2(+)/SW3(-) to choose “Atomizer”, then press SW1 for confirmation and enter into the first menu.

2.1. Normal: Constant wattage output mod. If successfully setting, OLED shows “Set Finish!”.

2.2. Ni200: Ni200 constant temperature output mod. If not using Ni200 atomizer, invalid setting, it defaults to constant wattage output mod. If using Ni200 atomizer and choosing “Ni200” in the first menu, it will enter into the secondary menu “Init Res YES/Init Res NO”.

2.2.1. Init Res YES: Initialization temperature atomizer resistance. After the atomizer cooling to ambient temperature, atomizer initialization resistance can be chosen manually, the measured resistance is the real atomizer resistance now. If done correctly, the OLED screen shows “Init Success”, if incorrect using, the OLED screen shows “Init Failure”

Note: atomizer initialization resistance cannot be chosen when atomizer is not cool to ambient temperature. Even if choosing “Init Res YES” and OLED Screen shows “Init Success”, the electronic cigarette in Ni200 constant temperature mod cannot work normally.

2.2.2. Init Res NO: Uninitialized temperature atomizer resistance. When connecting atomizer, if it has initialized, no need for initialization again.

2.3. Exit: Exit the submenu, back to main menu.

3、Ni200 output setting in constant temperature mod: After entering into the main menu, press SW2(+)/SW3(-) to choose “Ni200”, then press SW1 for confirmation and enter into the first menu.

3.1. High Power: The output wattage will be ≤50w in Ni200 constant temperature mod if choosing “High Power”.

3.2. Mid Power: The output wattage will be ≤40w in Ni200 constant temperature mod if choosing “Mid Power”.

3.3. Low Power: The output wattage will be ≤30w in Ni200 constant temperature mod if choosing “Low Power”.

3.4. Exit: Exit the submenu, back to main menu.

4、Temperature display mod setting: After entering into main menu, press SW2(+)/SW3(-) to choose “Temperature”, then press SW1 for confirmation and enter into the first menu.

4.1. Unit: Temperature display mod setting. Choose “Unit” in the first menu, then access into the secondary menu “UNIT ℃/UNIT °F”.

4.1.1. UNIT ℃: Degree centigrade measuring, temperature unit displays ℃.

4.1.2. UNIT °F: Degree Fahrenheit measuring, temperature unit displays °F.

4.2.  Exit: Exit the submenu, back to main menu.

5、OLED screen display mod setting: After entering into main menu, press SW2(+)/SW3(-) to choose “Display”, then press SW1 for confirmation and enter into the first menu.

5.1. Direction: OLED screen display mod setting. Choose “Direction” in the first menu, then access into the secondary menu “Dir 0/Dir 180”.

5.1.1. Dir 0: OLED screen displays the forward interface.

5.1.2. Dir 180: OLED screen displays the reverse interface, that is interface is rotated 180°.

5.2.  Exit: Exit the submenu, back to main menu.

6、E- cigarette factory information display: After entering into main menu, press SW2(+)/SW3(-) to choose “Factory info”, then press SW1, OLED screen shows e-cigarette factory model “M470A”.

7、Exit: Exit the main menu, back to main menu.
